AQUiLA MAGAZINE
FEEL GOOD

Mission FUN !

Did you enjoy finding out about people ’ s ‘ useless ’ but super FUN quests in the Feel Good issue of AQUILA magazine ? How great must it have been eating scones in every single National Trust property in the UK ? Or moseying along every street in Central London ? Now it ’ s your turn ; let ’ s get our quests on and gather some data at the same time !

Polly and Calculata ’ s Mission

Polly and I have teamed up today to show you how maths and creativity can go together like chocolate and strawberries ! We want you to be creative and start a side quest that will combine bringing you joy AND collecting some good old-fashioned data . By presenting data in a visual and creative way it can make it stay in people ’ s minds a lot easier than a page full of numbers – your data may seem useless , but we bet more people will be interested in it than you first think !

STEP 1 :
First you need to think of your side quest . Do you have a special interest you could connect it to ? Or is there something random that you have sometimes thought you would like to know more about , just … you know … because ? For our quest , we ’ re going to find out as much as we can about crisp flavours from around the world . Why ? Because we both love salty , crunchy SNACKS , that ’ s why !
STEP 2 :
Set up your parameters . What data are you trying to collect through your quest ? Write down some questions . To keep you on track , are you going to set yourself a time limit for a start and end date of your quest , or is it going to be on going FOREVER MORE ? Remember , this is meant to be fun so the choice is yours !

Our questions we are going to try and answer through our crisp packet collection quest are :
• Is there one flavour that is globally the most popular ?
• Is Salt & Vinegar as popular in other countries as it is in the UK ?
• Is there a flavour that seems popular in other countries that we don ’ t have in the UK ?
• Do some countries prefer sweeter flavours to savoury ?
