11. LOVE AND
HATE ANALYSIS
Throughout the course of discovery, we
identify areas that the organization loves,
along with areas of concern. These are
documented and used as a tool to understand
organizational health and effectiveness.

15. TRAVEL MAP
Using the organization’s current floor plan,
individuals produce a map of their daily
path. When these maps are overlaid,
circulation patterns, issues and opportunities
become apparent.

12. A DAY IN THE LIFE
Using a video camera, members of the
organization document themselves
performing daily tasks, meetings, etc. for
a period of time. This provides a baseline
and helps define the organization in its
current state.
16. POST-IT
Users are given the chance to answer
questions anonymously and without
judgment. The Post-its are color coded to
represent positive or negative responses,
allowing us to quickly visualize the
overarching feeling.

19. WHAT IFS
Our DNA observers help push the
organization outside of its comfort zone
by asking questions about hypothetical,
dramatic changes, ranging from
environmental to managerial.
20. MOOD BOARD
As one of the first phases of the design process
following discovery, we create a board that
helps relay the physical sense of the project. It
uses textures, material samples and pictures to
help set the stage.
