9. ARTIFACTS ANALYSIS 10. ENGAGEMENT SURVEY
A team of DNA observers identifies and
documents artifacts throughout the space,
learning about people through the “stuff”
they’ve accumulated. This survey shows the level of engagement
people feel within the organization and
thereby offers a snapshot of general
happiness. It uncovers issues and opportunities
for design to increase engagement.
13. GOING NATIVE
Much like Jane Goodall and her chimpanzees,
a small team of DNA observers is embedded
into the organization for a short time.
Through this immersion, we take away a
deeper understanding of the current culture.
17. BEAUTY CONTEST
We strategically select photographs to
represent different design solutions and
present them to individuals for their opinions.
This helps to uncover the organization’s
overall design aesthetic.
14. BALANCING ACT
In collaboration with the organization,
we analyze the features that will need
to be balanced to account for cost
efficiency, funding obstacles and/or
construction boundaries.
18. SPENDING SPREE
After determining a list of wants and needs,
users get to “spend” their allotment of poker
chips on the items that matter most to them.
This exercise helps prioritize the list.
