Missing You

Jennifer Watson

Now the day is over,

you're lying in your bed

and cares are spinning endlessly

around your weary head.

Remember that the moon you see

is also shining down on me.

I'm sending you a moonbeam

like an arrow from my heart – a silver pathway linking us

although we are apart.

So watch out for that moonbeam

and keep it in your dreams,

remember, love, that love is always

nearer than it seems.

I like ‘Missing You’ by Jennifer Watson because it is very emotional but also happy, it is the words of someone who is missing their loved one. The poem has lots of rhyme like, “You’re lying in your bed” which rhymes with, “around your weary head”. For me the vocabulary in this poem is strong and effective. I really like the line “Remember that the moon you see is also shining down on me”. This is very cute and a poem is a very nice way to tell somebody how you feel.

Here the poet talks about writing the poem for her daughter and then she reads the poem.

Poetry is like frogs hopping in a pond.
