This poem sounded paradoxical to me, because it describes a blind woman who enjoys her blindness which is not such common. Besides, I also found it paradoxical that the woman who is blind can perceive the light. The author uses an extended metaphor referring to light as if it were rain (rain of light, trickled, wet, splashed, puddles). By resorting to this metaphor, he intends to make common people understand in a more concrete way what this woman is feeling.
