Perched on a Tree Branch, an Asian Koel As the gentle rays of the sinking sun Suffused the trees with noon’s last hue of gold, Upon the garden’s pebbled path I strolled alone with quiet ease, Until the bursting of an oriental melody Spurred me to the shady groves– My ears rang with the familiar anthem Of ancient evenings, beckoning from Within rainforests dense with mystery. The longing of a lonesome singer Drew me to the saga tree’s Embracing branches. © Skylark Press Studio 2016 1/2
