Academic Roundup Transitions Hub While the format of our teaching may have been different this term, our focus on ensuring each pupil does their best has not diminished. Teachers and pupils (and parents!) have risen to the challenge of learning from home, making use of a range of new tools and platforms to ensure that pupils’ subject knowledge and skills have continued to develop. Two pupil questionnaires have helped us to monitor our provision and to ensure it is meeting the needs of all our pupils. We have been delighted by pupils’ positive feedback, and have used their responses to tailor our teaching approaches. Our second questionnaire, completed just after half term, showed great consistency with the first, demonstrating our pupils’ resilience and enthusiasm in remaining focused and positive over an extended period of time. It has been great to welcome many of our Fourth Year and Lower Sixth pupils back into school in the last two weeks of term, and we look forward to welcoming all of our pupils back into school as soon as possible. Nevertheless, both pupils and teachers have noticed many innovations from our term of online learning that they hope to see remain part of our academic provision. We are looking forward to exploring how we can take the very best of all our learning this term with us into the future. This term we have been delighted to share a brand new hub of transition materials, designed for Fifth Year and Upper Sixth pupils. This wide-ranging selection of resources aims to: · Help Fifth Year pupils to bridge the gap between their current studies and those which they will begin in September. · Help Upper Sixth pupils to bridge the gap between their current studies and the next steps that they will take, whether towards university, apprenticeships, further study or employment. Teachers have also supported Fifth Year pupils with regular online sessions to discuss ideas and monitor progress and everyone has enjoyed the chance to get a ‘head start’ ready for September. We have also shared the Transition Hub with the wider community and directly with secondary schools in the area, which has been very well received. All the transition materials remain available and can be accessed here: https://pocklington.fireflycloud.net/transition-pages 5
