The show will go on! With the inevitable cancellation of the Spring Concert, the Music Department sought other ways to bring music to the audience. An online concert, a first for the Department, was compiled with pupils from the Senior and Prep Schools generously submitting their high quality videoed performances. The first piece was a trio sonata by the Baroque composer, Arcangelo Corelli, performed in multiple locations! This was really a test to see if putting together an ensemble performance remotely would be practicable. The Kneeshaw family stepped up with Archie (U6), Harry (OP) and Mrs Kneeshaw playing the violin parts, Zac Stewart (Fourth Year) Staff News Alan Heaven retiring after 35 Years of service. playing the cello continuo and Mr Austin on the harpsichord. Each performer was required to play their part to a predetermined speed, with a metronome click played through earphones. Putting the performance together required many hours of careful editing late at night, particularly as there was some confusion over the tempo change at the start of the piece! Some careful slowing down of some of the parts was required which was managed without affecting the pitch. Izzie Watson (U6) sang an English art song by Roger Quilter, 'Now sleeps the Crimson Petal' followed by an unaccompanied flute sonata composed CPE Bach, performed by third year At the end of this term we bid farewell to several long standing colleagues, Mr Alan Heaven, Mrs Wendy Wright and Mrs Catherine Baines; Alan Heaven having given nearly 35 years of service.
