The show will go on!
With the inevitable cancellation of the Spring
Concert, the Music Department sought other
ways to bring music to the audience. An online
concert, a first for the Department, was
compiled with pupils from the Senior and Prep
Schools generously submitting their high quality
videoed performances.
The first piece was a trio sonata by the Baroque
composer, Arcangelo Corelli, performed in
multiple locations!
This was really a test to see if putting together an
ensemble performance remotely would be
practicable. The Kneeshaw family stepped up
with Archie (U6), Harry (OP) and Mrs Kneeshaw
playing the violin parts, Zac Stewart (Fourth Year)

playing the cello continuo and Mr Austin on the
harpsichord.
Each performer was required to play their part to
a predetermined speed, with a metronome click
played through earphones. Putting the
performance together required many hours of
careful editing late at night, particularly as there
was some confusion over the tempo change at
the start of the piece! Some careful slowing
down of some of the parts was required which
was managed without affecting the pitch.
Izzie Watson (U6) sang an English art song by
Roger Quilter, 'Now sleeps the Crimson Petal'
followed by an unaccompanied flute sonata
composed CPE Bach, performed by third year

Throughout the year, the Musical Theatre
Society were preparing for their own showcase.
Unfortunately, due to various circumstances,
they were not able to perform these songs. In
lieu of this, we have put together a collection of
the songs that were going to be showcased to
you. We'd like to thank everyone for coming
along this year, and we hope you enjoyed taking
part as much as we enjoyed teaching you!
Please look out for a new video appearing on
the Pocklington School Music Department
YouTube page on 10th July at 9am! We would
also like to thank everyone for their continuous
support for the Musical Theatre Society.
