Musical talent shines in inter-House challenge The strong and varied musical talents of Pocklington School’s pupils were showcased during the Sixth Form-led House Music Festival at the School’s Tom Stoppard Theatre. Pupils from each of the School’s four houses picked music and practised among themselves before performing for two nights in a variety of styles in front of packed audiences and a judging panel. Wilberforce House’s repertoire included a beautiful rendition of Theme from Schindler’s List with an emotive violin solo by Harry Kneeshaw, which was voted the best individual item. Dolman House showed great voice control with their two choral pieces: the tender Remember Me and a lively Praise You. Hutton House’s performance included The Pink Panther Theme, complete with a prowling, triangle-playing panther. Gruggen House, who were declared the overall winners, rounded off their performance with the Grease classic, You’re the One That I Want, when the enthusiasm of everyone captivated the entire audience. 2 0 1 8 S W I N N E R OUSE GRUGGEN H 3
