Sport
The Lent term has seen fantastic progress across all sports, with boys’ hockey continuing to go from strength to strength. The introduction of hockey as the main Games option for First Year to Third Year has had a hugely positive impact, especially at U12 and U13 levels where enthusiasm and performance have been excellent. Our new hockey curriculum is taking root, with strong development across the younger age groups. Notably, three boys are now involved or trialling for the England Hockey Talent Academy.
In rugby, the U17s enjoyed a successful return to 15-a-side fixtures. We proudly hosted five tournaments this term, welcoming over 500 pupils and 15 schools. Our Sixth Form students also stepped up to officiate, gaining valuable leadership experience. Players benefitted from exciting trips to England training sessions and to Twickenham.
Netball continues to thrive, with over 220 pupils representing Pocklington School. Highlights include strong performances in the Ampleforth and Queen Margaret’ s tournaments, and qualification for the regional finals at U14 level.
Our Equestrian team has enjoyed a standout season, with top results at Addington and qualification for Hickstead and the NSEA Championships. Their team spirit, commitment, and success are truly commendable.
It has been a term full of energy, achievement, and opportunity. We look forward to building on this momentum next term.
