House Drama

Music

This term ' s Music Department activities highlighted a wide range of talent and commitment. Three Rush Hour concerts showcased skilled pianists and string players, offering intimate performance settings. Early in the term, a Soloists ' Concert celebrated individual achievement. The lively Jazz and Rock Concert was a resounding success, demonstrating our pupils’ versatility. Whilst preparing for these performances, the department also hosted a full day of ABRSM exams, supporting pupils’ formal musical development. Now, the attention is on the upcoming Spring Concert, a collaborative effort with the School Choir and Parents ' Choral Society, set to take place immediately after Easter.
Sam Austin, Director of Music
This year’ s House Drama competition proved to be a great evening of entertainment. With only three weeks to prepare, pupils from the four academic houses put in considerable effort to present a 10 to 15-minute excerpt of their choice from the musical theatre genre. The audience enjoyed the remarkable performances: Dolman selected Grease, Wilberforce chose The Lion King, Gruggen went with Mama Mia and Hutton showcased The Greatest Showman. The effort and commitment of each house were clear on stage, making it a challenging task for this year’ s judge, Angela Stone, Director of Pocklington Arts Centre, to pick a winner. Ultimately, Dolman ' s rendition of Grease earned the title of Best Overall House, while Wilberforce received the award for Best Individual Performance with their piece from The Lion King. All in all, it was a wonderful evening, celebrating the talent and creativity of our pupils.

Co-curricular

It has been another wonderful term where we have watched our pupils rehearse, train, perform, create, compete, win, lose and truly thrive!
From House Drama, showcasing the wonderful talent from First Year to Upper Sixth pupils, to music concerts featuring piano, violin, jazz and rock performances. From hockey, netball and rugby sevens matches to CCF training and RAF flying days. From Duke of Edinburgh award training to Lectern Lite- we have certainly made the most of our time. There’ s a real buzz around our school; a buzz that comes from embracing new challenges, seeking fresh opportunities, committing fully, persevering and diving right in! Thanks once again to all parents, pupils and staff who have been a part of this term’ s wonderful journey.
