A day in the life of a boarder

Henri- Fifth Year International Boarder
Each day at our boarding school begins with a sense of excitement and routine. From the moment I wake up in the dorm, I know I’ m surrounded by friends and teachers who make the community feel like home. What I enjoy most, is the independence throughout boarding life and all the activities that take place every weekend.
After having had a delicious breakfast in the morning, I head over to school to partake in lively debates in lessons and learn about various subjects. After school I have prep time in the library, which makes for the perfect environment for learning, revising as well as leaning back and reading a book from the wonderful selection that the library offers. After prep, the boarders are served a lovely dinner and given the opportunity to share their daily
Hermela- Fourth Year Boarder
Hello, my name is Hermela, and I am a full-time boarder in school. After a full day of school, I head back to the boarding house and get ready for prep time, which is when I do my homework and study. Once prep is finished, I have tea in the dining hall. After this, in the evening, we have exciting house activities. Each day there is something different to do, sometimes it is sports, baking, and other times a more relaxed group activity such as board games but it always gives us a chance to unwind and spend time together.
After 8pm, we get our“ free time,” which is when everyone can relax, chat, listen to music, or get ready for the next day. Living in the boarding house means every day feels full, structured, and shared with friends, and even though it can be busy, it is an experience I really enjoy. experiences with everybody else in the dining hall. After tea, there is a second prep time in the library to ensure all homework is done and the rest of the evening can be enjoyed at your disposal. In the evenings there are many activities possible. Whether you go to the sports hall, the gym, town or stay in house to enjoy the cozy common room- everybody is bound to have a joyful evening and get some rest before the next day arrives.
The daily life in Fenwick-Smith House makes me feel part of an inclusive and welcoming community, especially on special trips on the weekends. I appreciate and value the feeling my house parents and fellow boarding school neighbours bring into boarding life, to make my stay more pleasant every day.

Music

The music department have been bringing the joy of music to Prep School and local primary schools through their successful Sing Out workshops! Pupils have been enthusiastically learning three exciting songs, building their vocal skills and confidence in preparation for a spectacular mass singing event.
The workshops are culminating in a " Big Sing " performance, bringing together an amassed choir of all participating schools. Mark your calendars! This musical celebration, called’ Sing Out’, is set to take place on 12th February at Pocklington School. It promises to be a thrilling and memorable experience for everyone involved!
