First Year House Camp

Last July, 48 pupils and 7 staff journeyed to Berwick upon Tweed, Northumberland. Following the sale of our beloved Sunningdale hotel in Bamburgh, we relocated a few miles up the A1 and took over the YHA Berwick for the first time. And what a fantastic place to stay it was! Our activities over the four night trip included a boat trip around the Farne Islands, sports on Bamburgh beach, cinema visit, exploring Seahouses, Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Castle Gardens and everyone ' s favourite- coasteering. We had an action packed four days and it was the best way to start the Summer holidays. Friendships were strengthened, comfort zones were pushed and pupils didn ' t seem to stop laughing, even when we had a little bit of rain. Our evenings were spent touring Berwick, playing cricket, frisbee and football, and adventuring to the beach and I am sure that every member of the trip returned with great memories and very tired legs! House Camp will return for our current First Year in July 2026.

Sixth Form- Adventure ready

The Sixth Form team are excited to be launching our new Adventure Ready Camp on June 18th and 19th 2026. During the two-day programme, our Lower Sixth students will attend the UCAS Exhibition at Leeds Beckett University; undertake a wide range of workshops including barista skills, restaurant skills, car maintenance, home maintenance, cooking, financial management, safe travel and self-defence; and enjoy an overnight camping experience at William ' s Den campsite. Huge thanks go to the Carver family for enabling us to use William ' s Den as a venue and provider of some of the workshops, and also to Josh Papa, OP, who will be delivering the financial management workshops.

Sixth Form Centre Regeneration

We are also really excited to announce that we will be regenerating our Sixth Form Centre ahead of September 2026. With new, professionally designed, study, social and storage areas, the centre will have the atmosphere of a university facility; supporting our students in using their time positively and productively when not in lessons and other timetabled activities. We look forward to sharing our plans soon.

Charity

As we reach the end of term, the charity team would like to say thank you to everyone who has donated to any of our Michaelmas term charity appeals. From the Jeans for Genes bake stall, the Great European Bake Off for Macmillan cancer support, to the winter coats and Christmas Gift appeal with York Mix Radio. It is wonderful to see so many worthwhile charities gaining recognition and support from Pocklington School.
