THE POWER IN PARTNERSHIPS - ENHANCING DELIVERY AND BUILDING THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS
The People ’ s National Movement has led the development of a robust national education system since 1962 . The introduction of universal primary and secondary education as well as increases in early childhood and tertiary enrolments has set Trinidad and Tobago firmly on the path to achieving developed country status .
As we look forward to the next four years , a PNM led Tobago House of Assembly will continue to develop , improve and modernise the existing the infrastructure to ensure a more predictable outcome for all our students from pre-school to university levels . We will :
• Construct a new school for the School for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired close to the Happy Haven School at Signal Hill
• Engage reliable and competent community based contractors in a year round school maintenance programme to ensure that all our school are well maintained
• Continue to provide a system of assessment and evaluation of student performances in all schools to ensure that meaningful learning is taking place
• Promote the importance of our national instrument by continuing to supply steel-pans and tutors to all primary schools
• Stimulate and motivate schools to deliver quality education by providing incentives for schools that show significant improvement in performance year on year
• Continue to provide comfortable and safe school environments that are technologically equipped and conducive to teaching and learning
• Promote and encourage innovation , problem solving and critical thinking as part of the learning process in all schools
