October 17, 2015 Dear PNASF Officers, Members and Friends! Greetings and warm welcome to all. Thank you for joining us at this enchanting evening. Congratulations to all the incoming officers of the Philippine Nurses Association of South Florida (PNASF). As we usher in the second half of the first decade of the 21st century, a number of opportunities abound for PNASF to be greater service to the members of the organization. Increased societal expectation for nurses to serve as transformational leaders in shaping the health care delivery system to be more accessible, affordable, and culturally-sensitive Demands for greater participation by nurses in advancing local and global health by influencing health care policy The technology explosion in health care and in education requiring nurses to acquire hand-on computer skills, infomatics know-how, competencies in e-medical records, online teaching and learning Nurses’ need for educational mobility pathways that facilitate their lifelong learning and acquisition of degrees from the baccalaureate, master’s and Interprofessional education and collaborative practice The need for research that supports evidence-based nursing and nursing science Advances in genomics, pharmacotherapeutics, quantum mechanics, and complex analytics Globalization and diversity Competency-based work performance evaluations Expanding career opportunities for nurses including entrepreneurship The job outlook for professional nurses continues to be on the rise. The 2012 Occupational Handbook of the U.S. Department of Labor and Statistics, projects that “employment of registered nurses will grow by 19 percent from 2012 to 2022, faster than the average of all occupations.
