Does Hybrid Agile approach Deliver? Dawn Kleinman Senior Manager, IT Governance Challenger Limited
Over the past 2 years, a medium sized Financial Services organisation has trialled and refined a hybrid agile approach to project management and software delivery. The trial is limited to one team, and employs waterfall techniques in terms of budgets and timeframes plus agile techniques from daily stand-ups to card walls. This organisational setting provides the perfect conditions to compare the effectiveness of a Waterfall versus a Hybrid Agile approach within a regulated environment. Measures for success include the achievement of project objectives, levels of stakeholder engagement, efficiency/increased productivity and speed to market. Evaluation of these success factors should be able to determine if the hybrid agile approach is delivering in line with components of the agile manifesto or does a waterfall approach still delivery the best investment spend.
