This apprenticeship focuses upon the principles and practices of horticulture in a
work-based environment. You’ll learn the skills to start or build on a career in
areas of interest, such as landscaping, production horticulture, sports turf or
parks and gardens.

Qualifications
Level 2 Diploma in Work-based Horticulture
Level 3 Diploma in Work-based Horticulture
Functional Skills in English and maths, if required
Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
Additional qualifications where required depending

Maintain the condition of plants and other resources during transportation
Monitor environmental conditions for protected crops
Construct and maintain boundaries and paths
Establish and develop decorative amenity areas

Entry requirements and who is it for?
You must complete an initial assessment identifying prior learning and experience in
order to ensure this apprenticeship is the correct pathway. You will also need to show
enthusiasm, commitment and interest in the subject area. You’ll be doing lots of kneeling
down, lifting, carrying heavy materials and working outdoors so physical fitness is required.
