Floorcovering Key facts Apprenticeship 18 months - 2 years duration Level 2 - Intermediate This apprenticeship will give you a sound working knowledge of the construction skills you need to work as a floor covering operative. With hundreds of different floorcoverings from lino, carpet and wood, to rubber, plastic and slate tiles, the future opportunities are endless. The job involves finding the right material for the surface, preparing the floor, cutting the material to fit and laying it in place. Qualifications Level 2 Diploma in Floorcovering Occupations Technical Certificate Functional Skills in English and maths, if required Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) Typical units covered CSCS CARDS We’ll provide su pport to gain a free CS CS card to ensure yo u are up-to-date Understanding construction technology Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries Developing customer relationships Preparation of sub-floor surfaces to receive floorcoverings Set out for the laying of floorcoverings Installation of resilient tile and sheet floorcoverings Installation of textile floorcoverings Entry requirements and who is it for? You must complete an initial assessment identifying prior learning and experience in order to ensure this apprenticeship is the correct pathway. You will also need to show enthusiasm, commitment and interest in the subject area. This apprenticeship also requires lots of kneeling down, lifting and carrying heavy materials so physical fitness is required along with being good at figures.
