Plymouth History Month

Plymouth's first-ever 'History Festival' will take place in May 2013.
The aim of the festival is to highlight and celebrate Plymouth's unique history and heritage through a series of different events for people of all ages and interests.

This year’s event is being sponsored by Rowes Honda and the theme will be ‘Plymouth’s Hidden History’ with the day including a walking parade from Plymouth University, through the City Centre and concluding in the Plymouth Piazza area, where a programme of local entertainment will take place on a stage underneath the Big Screen. There will be a number of community stalls and exhibitions outside the Civic Centre, on Sundial Square and New George Street. Stage entertainment in the Piazza will run from 10am to 4pm, the walking parade will start at 1pm and arrive in the Piazza arena at approximately 2pm.
Why not get involved as a family and take part in the History Trail and discover some intersting facts about Plymouth and have a chance to win some great family prizes.
The Stonehouse Play association will have a number of come and have a go activities in the Guildhall Square area between 11am and 5pm.
There will also be an activity area outside the Holiday Inn, where Plymouth University students will be organising a number of activities such as athletics, fencing, frisbee golf and much more.

With coverage from 7pm and catering and seating on site, come down and support Bonnie Tyler representing the United Kingdom or your home nation for an evening of themed entertainment.

Pirate Weekend

Aarh Jim Ma Lad, all aboard for Plymouth's Pirate Weekend 2013. Plymouth’s Barbican and Sutton Harbour will once again be hosting a weekend of pirate themed fun for all the family.
At the heart of the activity will be the fantastic tall ship The Bessie Ellen, which will be berthed in Sutton Harbour for the weekend.
Visitors will have the chance to go on board The Bessie Ellen to explore the ship and get a taste of life as a pirate.
