PLUS SIZE DIVA MAGAZINE VOL 4 | Page 16

Instead of dropping out of school I decided to give temporary custody to my mother until I graduated. Living on the streets was no easy task so at sixteen I decided to quit my job at shopRite and try something just a little different, I forced myself to grow up working at an adult establishment to get myself off the streets I would perform a half an hour on stage study for a half an hour and the cycle continued, I would get off of work at 2am and tired going to school at 6:45am but I got sucked into the lifestyle. Granted it paid for my first car and apartment but I wanted more so I went to NYC to audition for who wants to be a Diva, I loved it. It encouraged me to do and be anything I wanted to be. I couldn't wait to graduate to explore the world -

And I did... I graduated varsity scholar honor student can you believe it.

I went to Job Corp for Culinary and Tile Masonry but I wasn't content, I wanted to see life, go places taste food, live a little, in 2003 I moved to Corpus Christi where I got married and had another child, Cherish, Life was beautiful until my weight went back up to 298 in 2008, My husband left me for another woman, I refused to move back to NJ so me and the kids moved to Houston. I didn't know nothing about being a single mother all I knew was I couldn't give up and I didn't want to treat my kids how my mother treated me. I saw an agency Hollywood North Ent they wanted to sign me in 2009 Der Rock Rogers was my agent, My first cattle call was in Dallas Americas next top model. I knew then I wanted to model, I was not accepted I was too short. The next casting was in Houston my kids were there to support me, again I was too short. That didn't stop me from trying. I met someone in Houston who thought my legs were perfect for a shoe ad. I was in. The Houston press described me as a plus size model with a bazzarre look I still laugh at that. My first runway show was with Jesus walks who assured me by the time he was done with me quote... "he will turn this tomboy to a diva" Since then I modeled in catalogs for top names such as Babyphat, Macys, Nzuri, Etc. and was semi finalist for sea grams gin two years in a row 2012 and 2013
