PLUS MODEL MAGAZINE January 2015 Issue | Page 93

The plus size industry has gained a lot of momentum in the last few years. What are your career goals as a model? It really has gained momentum; it’s such a beautiful thing and I couldn’t be more proud of being part of this industry. I would like to break barriers. Show beauty and diversity not only in size, but also in age and ethnicity. I don’t want to be classified in just one group or category. I would love to work with Swimsuitsforall, Target, Lane Bryant, Eloquii and Macy’s, to name a few. I would love to work with designers like Michael Costello and Diane Von Furstenberg and to be the Latina face of Covergirl. Furthermore, have presence in magazines like Vogue, Glamour and Latina that can assist the industry showcasing a more positive body image. Do you have any other ambitions besides modeling? I do. I believe in the power of giving so I am currently working in local and global missions with different organizations to assist with kids that are starving around the world. As a mother, kids are very dear to me and I want to do everything I can to nourish and protect them. What advice would you pass along to those just starting in the business? Know who you are as a human being. Don’t loose your essence. Having morals, and professionalism goes a long way. You don’t have to be ugly, mean or catty to have a successful career in modeling or any other profession.
