PLUS MODEL MAGAZINE January 2015 Issue | Page 75

What was your first big break in the industry? My first “BIG” contract was with Wonderbra. They chose me to launch their first plus-size campaign. With the industry working with models as small as size 6, have you felt pressure to lose weight? Not really, honestly it’s been the opposite for me. Sometimes people accuse me of not being plus sized, despite the fact that I’m a size 13. It’s very hurtful to be told that I’m not a REAL PLUS SIZE model. Being plus- size, is not a trend, it is what we are. I am a woman who trains daily and eats healthy. I do not desire to enter the standard sizes of society; I just want to be healthy in my curvy body. How do you maintain your positive body image? With good thoughts, good food and a healthy environment. I enjoy being around caring people that help me grow. What are your tips for aspiring models? It’s a tough world. They need to be ready and very selfsufficient. They need to be prepared to bounce back from negative feed back and constantly remind themselves that they are worth it. Being Stubborn is a good key too. LOL!
