“ Plumbing is more”

© Plumbing Africa
By Rory Macnamara( just for this issue!)
The World Plumbing Council produced an excellent theme for World Plumbing Day, which we are going to share now.
World Plumbing Day is a hive of activity, so it makes sense to hold this over – because as we all know, every day is plumbing day.
The word more is never a stand-alone word, but the World Plumbing Council has created a whole new meaning for it in the plumbing context:
Put it this way, all design and engineering plans will be for nought if the plumber – and other technicians – are not there to make it all happen. So, while plumbing respects the whole team – all along the chain – plumbers deserve the same respect. But remember that respect is earned, not given freely.
“ MORE IMPACT – Plumbing powers prosperity.
MORE INNOVATION – Plumbing advances water solutions.
MORE POSSIBILITIES – Plumbing offers fulfilling careers.
MORE RESILIENCY – Plumbing protects communities.
MORE PROBLEM SOLVING – Plumbing enhances the future.
MORE EQUITY – Plumbing delivers for everyone.
And together, we will make sure the world knows: PLUMBING IS MORE.”
The above statement reinforces the critical role that plumbing plays through the qualified plumbers in our country and offers a holistic view of its role – even though it may be mostly underground. Plumbing offers a great career, and if one is committed to it, a fulfilling one. Plumbing is part of the building team, even if not recognised as such by a few professionals.
This issue has our usual contributors – to whom we are always grateful – Health and Safety by Chris, Ask Coach Craig by Craig, Health and Sanitation by IAPMO and Technical by Patrick.
This month, our feature is on heat pumps – which continue to play a larger role in our country – and Burundi Stadium is our project.
We are creating a new column called‘ opinion piece’ and it is open to anyone who has something to say concerning the industry. The content must add value to the industry and not be offensive or personal in nature. Please email your opinion pieces to megan @ interactmedia. co. za.
Once again, we present a full issue for the last one of 2025, a year that has just flown by, as we start on the 2026 issues. PA
