World Plumbing Day is celebrated on 11 March .
World Plumbing Day , which was proposed by Robert Burgon from the World Plumbing Council ( WPC ) in 2010 , is celebrated on 11 March . Burgon , chairperson of the WPC had a vision of creating greater awareness around plumbing , the importance of the profession and the impact that professional plumbers have . in one of the regional or national events , or just stand a little taller knowing that today you are making a positive difference .
Remember : plumbers need to be celebrated every day . Thank you all . PA
Being a part of this committee and seeing the growth of the initiative is phenomenal to say the least . We are part of a vast network of professionals who continue to promote awareness and education of our trade and how we enhance the lives of others on a daily basis .

Plumbing and plumbers are often taken for granted . We have a huge responsibility on our shoulders . As I have stated on so many occasions , a plumber brings life into a building and removes disease . We have all seen the results of bad plumbing and the impact this has on society .
I don ’ t remember who said it , but this is an excellent quote , nonetheless : Good plumbing is like good health ; you never think about it until something goes wrong .
I recall celebrating our first World Plumbing Day in 2011 . The celebration had been arranged by Rory Macnamara in Gauteng , where we had a few guest speakers . Fast forward to 2025 and we can see how these events have gained traction all over the country with plumbers helping and supporting causes that require assistance . This includes helping out schools , clinics , animal shelters , old age homes and so much more .
Our South African plumbers , manufacturers , suppliers and merchants contribute to making a difference to those in need . Not just on World Plumbing Day , mind you .
We adhere to standards , and we are industry compliant . I must say that I love the Aussie saying that ‘ the plumber protects the nation ’ because that is precisely what we do . Each and every one of us , no matter the size of our business , the scope of our experience , we are all part of a group of professionals who protect our nation .
While we celebrate World Plumbing Day , take some time to reflect on yourself as a plumber and the value you bring . Maybe participate
