Plumbing product supplier MRM has become a stalwart in the industry, particularly in Gauteng. This year the company celebrates 30 years in business.
Mark Metelerkamp is the owner of MRM Plumbing and Hardware supplies in Edenvale, Gauteng. The company has ensured that plumbers have exactly what they need to get the job done since June 1995.
MRM prides itself on being there for the plumbing community six days a week, providing service, advice, tools, spares and products for all kinds of plumbing jobs. And it’ s not just plumbers in Johannesburg that can take advantage of their services: MRM is happy to send what you need to you wherever you are in South Africa.
“ A lot of things have evolved in the plumbing industry,” says owner Mark Metelerkamp,“ However, one thing has been a constant and that is the demand for a dedicated plumbing supply shop that plumbers can rely on.”
Mark has ensured that the guys who man the counter at MRM have experience and are knowledgeable about the products on offer. Each week the team undertakes some form of training so that upskilling and learning are an ongoing endeavour.

Personal service is central to the company’ s functioning. Integrity and high standards are encouraged among all staff. Added to this, they also insist on only carrying SABS approved products.
“ There are people Mark Metelerkamp celebrates MRM’ s 30th birthday who come in to ask advice on how to do something,” Mark explains.“ We can point them in the right direction or give them the right information and specs.” PA
Happy birthday, MRM!

The thing that was most evident about ISH was the passion everyone there had for plumbing.“ Wow and wow again,” says Mari Macnamara,“ Their passion was amazing. Mind blowing. The stands that were built there were out of this world. For example, there was a stand that was two thousand square metres manned by six hundred staff members!”
Macnamara describes a constant buzz in the air from the throngs of visitors who walked through the halls. Moving walkways between the various halls connected visitors to the many levels and spaces that displayed and demonstrated so many innovations and products.
“ When I checked how many steps I did during that week, I was shocked to see it was 90 000!” exclaims Macnamara.
The manufacturers and suppliers showcased several new products and technologies that will be emerging in the SA market in time.“ Keep an eye on Plumbing Africa as we cover some of these new developments,” says Macnamara.
Out of 2 183 exhibitors, 72 % were international. The show saw 163 157 visitors in attendance – 45 % of which were international visitors. Plumbing Africa did encounter several South Africans while they were there, which made them feel instantly at home. PA
