IOPSA aims to create more

By Steve Brown, IOPSA Executive Director
We are aiming to make IOPSA the plumber’ s ultimate business growth partner. Here’ s how.
IOPSA is committed to connecting you with more work opportunities. We want to see you and your business grow and thrive – not just survive. This means expanding and refining a comprehensive platform to distribute jobs effectively. We will also be actively strengthening our partnerships with insurance companies, manufacturers and corporate clients to generate exclusive streams of work that are accessible to our members.
We know that having an organisation behind you to help you grow is important. We want to help with providing training that will focus on crucial aspects of business profitability, such as pricing strategies, customer acquisition, financial management and effective marketing. We are also there to help with practical guidance in legal, financial and operational matters. We will also be developing business templates and resources, including contracts, pricing calculators and customer communication guides.
We want to see the industry coming together, working together and enforcing compliance and good workmanship. Non-compliant materials have a detrimental impact on the consumer and that has a knock-on effect on your reputation and your business.
We are also pursuing ways to secure overflow insurance work so that IOPSA members can benefit from those vital services too.
Ultimately, we want you to know that IOPSA is there for you, has your interests at heart and wants to help you enjoy a successful business. PA
" We want to see you and your business grow and thrive – not just survive."
We are repositioning compliance and training as a distinct business advantage. We are moving away from a purely compliance-driven approach and instead framing training as a powerful tool for business growth. Our modules will be designed to enhance your earning potential, covering areas such as pricing jobs for profit, successfully securing insurance work and large contracts, and implementing effective marketing strategies tailored for small plumbing businesses.

We want you to feel happy with your membership of IOPSA – that it is giving you something that benefits you and your business. What we want to do is improve communication channels and implement personalised engagement strategies. Ultimately, we want to hear back from you, the plumber, and respond by providing service and advice.
Finally, we are enhancing membership retention and regional meetings, which we want to standardise. We want to make sure that there is real value in these meetings to you. Our aim is to create clear agendas and structured formats that provide actionable takeaways, showcasing best practices and highlighting successful case studies to encourage engagement.
As mentioned last month, IOPSA is adopting an 80 / 20 approach prioritising the 20 % of activities that deliver 80 % of the value to you, our members.
