Conclusions
• Development of guidelines and standards for water quality monitoring is critical to address the current gaps in water quality control
• The challenges remain of adoption and implementation of guidelines and standards related to water storage and water quality in buildings due to ,
• Lack of updated bylaws at municipalities or lack of bylaws
• Inclusion of voluntary standards into bylaws
• Poor enforcement of bylaws due to lack of resources
• Consumers are likely to implement standards related to water efficiency if there is a direct cost benefit to them
• Standards together with increased water tariffs for high end users can motivate building owners to reduce consumption and save water . PA
