About 90 plumbers, manufacturers, and companies attended. By Cherry Ellis | Photos by Cherry Ellis The get-together was officially opened by Robert Winn, Gauteng chairman for IOPSA, and thereafter the executive director, Brendan Reynolds, addressed the attendees. “The industry is growing and at the same time, going through a lot of changes. We must improve our knowledge, get involved, and participate to make a change in our own industry. The future is looking great, but we are facing a lot of changes,” said Reynolds. He announced that IOPSA has launched a quarterly newsletter and reminded members of the industry that ‘Toolbox talks’ (safety on site) takes place every Tuesday morning. Deon Smit (a well-known trainer in the industry) and Nick Joubert (IOPSA) did a presentation on SANS 10254. (Read more about this on page 50). Afterwards, the guests were treated to dinner and enjoyed socialising.
