A new association for plumbers

A new plumbing body named Kasi 2 Kasi ( meaning Township 2 Township ) has been formed . Based in Soweto , the body advocates for all plumbers in villages and townships in South Africa .

Plumbing Africa chatted with the Chairman , Mr Thabo Nkhasi , about the reasoning behind the body commonly referred to as K2KPA .

“ There are many people doing plumbing work who have indicated a willingness to become qualified or improve their knowledge . Of the 100 plus responses I have had - of which some are qualified - this is motivation enough to grow the association .”
“ It is important to note that our vision is to become a centre for a township-based plumbing body , appreciating the needs of those living in the township , as well as boosting economic development and entrepreneurship within townships ,” concludes NKhasi .
“ Kasi2Kasi is a registered non-profit company and is fully compliant with the Companies Act ; serving plumbing and plumbers , by uniting all those interested in plumbing in the townships and villages of South Africa .”
“ We are collaborating with the Institute of Plumbing South Africa ( IOPSA ) and the Plumbing Industry Registration Board ( PIRB ) and look forward to forming more relationship with the South African Women in Plumbing and Trades

Looking through the constitution , the approach is focused on improved plumbing and business .
The K2KPA offers its members :
• A one-stop shop , supported by skilled professionals
• Access to a platform that offers advice and support for starting a new business venture
• Access to training , enabling them to continually improve their business skills
• Advocation and facilitation of compliance practices
• Updated information on modern business practices , including management development and employee operational skills
• Development , facilitation and creation of additional business opportunities
The association is open to all that have a South African bar-coded ID . Membership fees will not exceed R600 per year , which is payable either annually or monthly . Upon joining , an entrance fee of R100 must be paid .
