Continuing our series on Women in Plumbing , at the request of SAWIP , we are chatting to apprentice plumber Bonakele Nompumelelo . As Plumbing Africa has consistently maintained , we do not wait for Women ’ s Month but recognise women monthly / all the time .
1 . What is the best part of being an apprentice plumber ? Plumbing contractors are one of the highest paid contractors . It ' s a skill you keep and use for life and evolving technology makes it an exciting trade to work in . It ’ s a sociable job . You get to interact with lots of people everyday .
2 . What is the worst part of being an apprentice plumber ? During an apprenticeship program , you undergo a training program that teaches you the necessary skills , tools and technologies that are imperative to becoming a successful plumber during the training and it ’ s not easy .
3 . How are you managing the worst part ? You must know mechanical principles and understand how things work . Plumbers need a working knowledge of mathematics and science , in that way people cannot tell you about your work .
4 . What do you believe is plumbing all about ? Plumbing is all about system of pipes and fixtures installed in a building for the distribution and use of drinkable water and the removal of waterborne wastes .
5 . What will you contribute to plumbing when you qualify ? As a qualified plumber I will help people optimise their water usage through technology and improved water management . I will work to ensure there ' s always enough water to go around .
6 . Who is your employer ? My employer is GROUP 6 PLUMBING AND PROJECTS .
