PROJECT 39
So , back to the event which recognised those employers , unfortunately not all could be present due to pressure of work , that had partnered with BluLever in providing that essential element of on-the-job training .
BluLever put together a panel consisting of hosts Rendani Tshivhula and Willem Klopper and panellists , Aubrey Keble , Steve van Zyl and Stacey Rontiris . The main topics were around training and incentives for employers that invest in training . The incentives are basically as follows :
BBEE Incentive – having an apprentice under this incentive contributes to one ’ s BBBEE score and if paying for the training a further number of points are gained for skills development and training .
SETA Incentives – if the payroll is R500.000 per annum one will pay a levy of 1 % as well as the employee . This money is paid over to SETA ’ s
( CETA and EWSETA in plumbing ’ s case ) and from which an employee can claim up to 20 % back from SARS . One can also claim up to 49.5 % from a discretionary grant that is made available every now and again by SETA .
Employee Tax incentive – here the employer is encouraged to hire young workers / job seekers between the age of 18 and 29 . The employer benefits from a reduction in hiring costs on a sharing mechanism with government , reducing one ’ s PAYE paid . This amounts to R 1 500 per employee tax cut .
A great initiative by BluLever which was thoroughly enjoyed by all for breakfast after the formal business on the BluLever Beach in Braamfontein !
