IOPSA, PIRB and SA Watermark at print and digital PlumbDrain 2020 By Rory Macnamara With PlumbDrain no longer a physical event this October and having been moved to 2022, the official bodies are not excluded from our print and digital editions of PlumbDrain. The Institute of Plumbing SA (IOPSA) is a company membership organisation representing plumbing at many levels in the fields of training, technical, standards development, transformation, marketing to consumers and plumbers, and working with kindred bodies. Financing of the organisation is drawn from many sources which includes membership fees, and donors with like-minded interests ensuring that the health and safety of consumers are protected. At the ‘physical’ PlumbDrain, they would have run the IOPSA Seminar Theatre where topics would cover all aspects relevant to the plumber. Instead, they have and will continue to run webinars at national and regional level, keeping the plumber informed and up-to-date. For more information, visit www.iopsa.org Plumbing Industry Registration Board (PIRB) is a professional body appointed by the SA Qualifications Authority (SAQA) to register and inspect the work of registered plumbers. PIRB is active in engaging with their registered plumbers through webinars on the standards particularly compulsory standards, keeping them fully upto-date. The PIRB creates opportunities for such plumbers to earn CPD points which are needed to renew their annual registration.
