but Mandela Day was over . However , the team got together again and unanimously decided that they would go ahead with the project albeit that KZN was at the peak of the Coronavirus third wave ( dominated by the deadly Delta variant ) and the recent mass looting , of which the province had not even started to quantify the extent of the damages and losses . Despite all these challenges , the four project champions quickly mobilized their teams and it was all hands on deck to complete the 67 toilets with a renewed sense of urgency : 1 . Within the two weeks that followed , all 67 toilets were installed to industry standards , in perfect working order and adding dignity to the people using them . This would not have been possible without the unselfish acts of time and labour from our local plumbers mentioned above .

The team has committed to do similar projects every year to commemorate International Mandela Day , to make a difference one life at a time and changing lives in our beautiful country South Africa . PA
