Response from suppliers : We sent some questions to some of the main plumbing tool suppliers . Here are their summarised responses :
Graham Dewar of Sabricon , a local manufacturer since 1954 says , “ Drain rods and basic fittings should form part of the tooling of a professional plumber .”
“ To do work professionally needs working with the correct tools and be seen to be professional ,” said Adler Teubes from Rothenberger .
Because time is money , it pays to invest in the right tools for the trade .
The plumber that suddenly needs a tool and spends time rummaging for the tool in an untidy vehicle is wasting time and money as well as annoying the customer . Most plumbers will carry limited stock of parts . Ensure that these are safely kept and are not subject to being crushed or broken when a toolbox is dumped on top of the part . Customers are not too happy when you arrive with a part in a crushed box !

“ Brandon Trivett of Adendorff Machinery made this point : “ In our experience , we say that if you buy cheap , it does not necessarily mean you are being smart , and paying less does not always mean that you are getting more value for your money .”
“ You will get longer life , better performance and return on investment when you choose high quality tools from a reputable brand ,” says Candice Knipe-Tlhotlhalemajoe , marketing manager , Matus .
On the issue of training we had some mixed but not negative responses . Adendorff does not offer training as such but ensures that their sales employees “ fit in with our company mission and vision to provide excellent customer service and expert advice .”
