Commenting on the evening, Plumblink CEO Seaweed McFarlane said,“ We just always felt that we needed to give something back to our suppliers.” Gary Chandler, Plumblink’ s commercial director, added that the suppliers’ evening also serves as a get-together where suppliers, Plumblink’ s national executives, and regional buyers could network outside of a business context. He also mentioned that the dinner is a platform where Plumblink communicates current and future plans with the suppliers.
After some networking, Chandler officially welcomed everyone to the suppliers’ evening. He then gave McFarlane the platform to address the guests.“ Plumblink had a great year and really, we could not have done it without the support from all our suppliers. Plumblink cannot grow unless we grow with the support from our suppliers,” McFarlane said. He expressed his appreciation to the suppliers for their service and support over the past year.“ I trust that you, as the suppliers to Plumblink, have benefitted over the past year.”
Discussing the past year, McFarlane mentioned that Plumblink had shown significant growth in what he considered a tough market. The company’ s growth included continued market share growth. He added that the company opened 11 new branches in the 2016 / 7 financial year. One of the branches was opened in Namibia. The new branches are part of the company’ s broader plans of having more than 100 branches by the end of the 2018 financial year, ending June 2018.
