One of three hot water tanks ( with two and three behind .) Water supply pipes .
hose reels and hydrants . In addition , a hose reel and hydrant vertical multi- stage jockey / booster pump has been placed on the roof . This draws water from the two tanks on the roof with a total of 9m ³ reserved for hose reels .
Should there be a power outage for the pumps there is a bypass located on the roof which will gravity feed the building from the tanks on the roof .
Sprinkler valve chamber This is located at the entrance to the building near the roadway for ease of access to the fire brigade . Complying with SANS 10287 : Automatic sprinkler installations for firefighting purposes , this includes the main control valves , test valves , jockey pump , double booster connection for sprinklers and sprinkler tank fill , alarm gong , drain valve , flow switch with normally closed voltage free contact which provides a radio link to the Fire Brigade , via the Remrad system .
The Sprinkler diesel powered pump is positioned in basement three and is installed in accordance with SANS 10287 section 5.5.3 and SANS 10142-1 : Wiring of premises : Low-voltage installations .
Fire sprinklers are installed in all basement levels .
ACS Consulting Engineers also designed the HVAC system for the building . PA
