One can call it a humble start to a new concept for Plumbing , but one that was welcomed by Mbombela and surrounds .
One can judge exhibitions by quantity but lacking in quality . Plumbing Travelling Exhibition and its sister , 29-year-old Mining Technical Exhibition ( MTE ), can attest to quality over quantity . An exhibition is also judged by its quality of exhibitors and our own position that only SANS standards in the compulsory standards for plumbing are permitted to exhibit .
Plumbers and owners of plumbing businesses , local inspectors , a sprinkling of facility managers and engineers attended . Of course , we now will assess and note where we can improve and balance the visitors to provide more quality , but the concept was one accepted by visitors and exhibitors alike .
The merchants and wholesalers are to be congratulated on their willingness to be involved in the independent travelling exhibition on neutral ground . Naturally we will support the merchants and wholesalers who will hold their own shows and official bodies who run roadshows at various merchants and wholesalers .
Visitors engaged with exhibitors and exhibitors engaged with each other , resulting in valuable contacts being made . Such exchanges are invaluable going forward .
The IOPSA workshops , particularly the fault finding on geysers and drainage , went down well and an extended session was held for one plumbing company who had 80 % of their plumbers there to listen to geyser fault finding .
That is the nature of outdoor exhibitions , one can be flexible and accommodate such requests . Plumbers are busy with important jobs , we accept that .
Future events will still host workshops but include local speakers from wider disciplines as part of expanding the visitor base . The weather was typically hot for that area but cooled down later when clouds came over . One exhibitor requested we switch on the aircons and the clouds did that for us !
