Meaningful transformation and empowerment

We bring you another issue jam-packed with good information from our technical folk and information to contribute to your growth .
IOPSA has been very active , and we report on their initiative to introduce a probationary plumber category to membership . This enables both meaningful transformation and empowerment to take place and recognises those wishing to make plumbing their career but for reasons beyond their control are unable to .
The mentorship programme is nearing finalisation and we commend those employers who make their time available to mentor not only in plumbing , but business matters as well . With two technical managers in place in Gauteng and Cape Town , we publish a piece on their role . This is another benefit of IOPSA membership and will support consumers when inspecting installations of members and non-members alike .
Vollie Brink chats about rainwater harvesting and stormwater management . While the plumber has a role to play , he / she needs to be aware of the engineering and competence required for this vital process .
On the training front we look at a training centre with a difference that creates excitement on the learning front not only in plumbing but getting to know oneself and teamwork .
We finish our Touchless Technology feature with part two , and considering the state of this country in the Covid scenario , this application should now be as essential and not optional .
Our Transport , Tools and Equipment Storage feature offers points to consider when buying a vehicle and the correct storage methods to ensure the vehicle operates at peak performance while carrying a heavy load .
Our project is The Catalyst Hotel in Sandton , Gauteng where the state of the art design and installation was done with a focus on heat pump technology . A stunning design and equally competent installation .
We conclude the IAPMO ‘ We Stand ’ article , which offers insight into the correct use of engineering and installation application .
The Last Word concludes with our policy should anyone find we have not provided factual , accurate and competent editorial . We subscribe to the Press Ombudsman , an independent body under the SA Press Council . We believe this is important as reference to this body is part of the disclaimer in all our publications and we stand to be judged by the Ombudsman ’ s decisions . PA
