About SD4GE II GIZ Skills Development for a Green Economy ( SD4GE ) II is a German Technical Cooperation Programme implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit ( GIZ ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development ( BMZ ). The programme , which is scheduled for a period of 4 years ( April 2018 – March 2022 ) aims to improve the cooperation between actors from vocational training institutions and the private sector in dual training approaches in South Africa .
It supports a structural change towards more employment-oriented training approaches in South Africa . GIZ SD4GE II works in close collaboration with the Department of Higher Education and Training
Support areas include :
• Cooperation between private and public sector actors to promote and implement VET for employment - artisan training , demand-oriented , flexible , short-term up- & re-skilling programmes , and career path development .
• Strengthening of the capacity of VET personnel in TVET colleges and in industry to plan and implement dual training .
• Building blocks and core processes supporting the development of artisans of the 21 st century : Assessments , curriculum review , quality assurance , employer relationships , ( digital ) learning support material
• Unlocking opportunities for training and employment in enterprises across the township economy ( IRM ) and responses to Covid-19
• Transitioning youth from learning to earning PA
