FITTING THOUGHT

Knowledge is power
Not that long ago, South Africans were fighting for
free education. Knowledge is power. So, it boggles
my mind to think that associations in the plumbing
industry are offering free opportunities for plumbers
to earn CPD (continuing professional development)
points, but then the attendance or feedback is dismal.
As pointed out by the executive director of IOPSA,
Brendan Reynolds, technology, products, and
methodology change and companies must keep
abreast of the changes to give their business the
cutting edge. I agree with Reynolds; it is vital to keep
up to date with the latest technology. Read his article
on page 55.
A terrific opportunity to look at all the products
and new technology that are available will be the
PLUMBDRAIN Africa 2018 expo that is taking place
at the Johannesburg Expo Centre (Nasrec) from 15 to
18 August 2018. The show, owned by Interact Media
Defined, co-located with INTERBUILD, has a reputation
for showcasing the latest innovations in products and
services that adopt eco-friendly technologies to help
create sustainable changes in the industry.
Seminars and workshops at the expo educate
the audience about new products and solutions
in the world of plumbing and offer insights into
new quality standards in the industry and relevant
updated legislation.

In this edition, we also report on the Kubili
private lodge that required a seamlessly
integrated, unobtrusive heating and cooling
solution that wouldn’t detract from the
natural environment in its surrounds. Read
more about this exciting project on page 40.
