Our rainwater harvesting feature goes into more detail on the requirements thereof and reinforces the opportunity for our industry to grow their offerings , business and profit . It warns of the correct selection of products that make up the needs for what the rainwater will be used for as there are different products for different applications . It also reminds us to use qualified plumbers . Harvesting is not just a tank and a pipe – even if only for watering the garden . Water is a great encourager of diseases and mossies and must be treated accordingly .
The Executive Director takes us through different aspects from Charles Dickens for our modern world . He looks at the reality and the issues facing us and offers hope if we all pull together .
We bid a sad farewell to Vollie Brink , as he lived a long life devoted to wet services . Thank you to all who contributed to the obituary .
Charles carries on his series of business articles , emphasising that starting a business is hard enough – running one is even harder , so it is necessary to use resources that will make it easier .
Uwe discusses contracts . The construction industry has many different contracts for different applications . In this issue he looks at a ‘ simpler ’ but equally important contract and spells out the responsibilities of each party within it .
We publish the 2024 Plumbing Travelling Exhibition ( PTE ) calendar in this issue , with two repeats and three new exhibitions . Bear in mind the repeated exhibitions are not ‘ same old , same old ’ – rather they have a new look with expanded ideas , such as formal demonstration areas .
We continue with our ‘ tell me why ’ series and introduce a new series , ‘ what ’ s in your toolbox ?’ The plumbers are loving it .
Our project is the Edenvale Hospital Laundry . While it is a steam application , the piping and fittings have a plumbing application . The whole unit is brand new , as is the installation linking to the old laundry – which is still in use .
Patrick Gordon continues his series and this issue he discusses balanced water .
