IOPSA Transformation Committee spreads its wings

By
Rory Macnamara
The new Transformation Committee was elected at a recent meeting with an impressive national representation . Reproduced below is the statement on the IOPSA website .
“ IOPSA is committed to principles of fairness and equal treatment of all individuals , companies , and organisations , irrespective of race , gender , sexual orientation , religion , or creed . IOPSA recognises the historical inequalities in South Africa and is committed to transforming the plumbing industry by ensuring the inclusion of all groups and assisting the industry to reflect the national demographics of the country both race and gender .”
The current representation is from the following provinces :
• North West
• Eastern Cape
• Western Cape
• KwaZulu-Natal
• Gauteng
With a broader provincial representation , the transformation message will be carried further and enable the committee to achieve the allimportant goals it has set itself .
Transformation impacts on everyone , and it is essential that any form of racism , inequality and unfair practices be reported to the committee for two main reasons , namely , such issues must be dealt with and by reporting such the committee is able to track the extent of lack of transformation at all levels of the industry .
Lorraine Mooi was re-elected as Chairperson and Mehendra Sewparsadh as Vice Chairperson .
