FITTING THOUGHT

This is your magazine
When I joined the team at Plumbing Africa,
Benjamin Brits told me that when the
publication was founded, no one was sure if
there would be enough to write about to keep
the magazine going. Now, decades later, I
can attest that there is no way that Plumbing
Africa is going anywhere. Without the help I have received, this issue
would not have been possible, and so I am
asking all of you whom I have spoken to,
harassed, or asked a basic question, to please
scratch my name out on each of the stories and
write in your own. It is your magazine and you
are the ones who really wrote it.
In just a few short months, I have literally met
dozens of people, each of whom has a dozen
stories to share about the industry, news,
updates, and things I absolutely need to know.
It’s been somewhat overwhelming, but also
totally invaluable and I am collecting enough
content to fill the next few decades’ worth of
magazine. Speaking of which, I think you have all done
a pretty good job. We have an absolutely
enthralling project in Benmore’s flagship
Acsiopolis development, as well as updates
on SANS 721 and the existence of copper
geysers, among a number of other stories.
Warren
As someone who trained as a journalist, I do
fancy myself a bit of a writer, but coming to
this job, my experience lay mostly in mining
and commercial magazines. The overwhelming
support and help from you, the plumbers,
owners, and suppliers of the plumbing
industry, have been so welcome and I know it
will continue to be.
Going forward, I hope to keep up the quality
you are all used to, and call on you, the
plumbers and people who make up this
industry, to keep helping me out. Think
of something I need to know? Then I am
more than willing to listen. My email is
[email protected].
