EVENTS AND EXHIBITIONS 16 IOPSA’s golf day brought people from all corners of the industry to Kyalami Country Club’s beautiful golf course. IOPSA golf day a success Thirty-six teams of players teed off on 6 November 2018 at the Kyalami Country Club for the most “casual”, “relaxing”, and “highly effective” IOPSA golf day. By Warren Robertson This was according to a random sampling of the 144 players who drove, chipped, and putted under blue skies for the first nine, but had to contend with weather that continuously hinted at, but never delivered, a raging thunderstorm in the second. Each of the holes was sponsored by some of the most important and impactful companies in the plumbing industry — from Valsir to Kwikot and Caleffi — and they certainly knew their target market, as chilled beers awaited players at each stop. With everyone off the course by 18:00, the real networking could begin as old friends and colleagues caught up over a beer and celebrated the day’s winners. A special mention must go to IOPSA’s own Steve van Zyl, who was playing his first-ever round and successfully managed to remind everyone else of just how far they had come. “It was a fantastic day; an event bringing the plumbing industry together for some fun,” said IOPSA executive director, Brendan Reynolds. “The golf day offers an opportunity for all our members to network and build relationships within the industry. We are looking forward to next year’s event, as we already have some exciting changes we plan to introduce.” PA January 2019 Volume 25 I Number 1 www.plumbingafrica.co.za
