EVENTS AND EXHIBITIONS

The day also has a few community benefits as an added bonus.
“We are currently involved in an upgrading project here at Midrand
High School, which is a spin-off for them allowing us to use their
facilities. Each year we try to choose a different school that we
hope to leave much better off than they were before we arrived,”
says Vermaak, adding that the day makes no profit whatsoever for
Plumblink, who donates all the profits to charity.
“Everywhere you look there are people selling things, from food to
raffle tickets, and at the end of the day, all the money goes into a
pot. Plumblink matches whatever is in the pot and we donate that
to the Jacaranda Children’s Home — we are targeting fifty or sixty
thousand this year,” says Vermaak.
There is little doubt that the Plumblink VIP day has become a
staple of the events calendar in plumbing, with children rushing
from camel rides to foam rides and jumping castles, while parents
indulge in boerewors rolls, beer, and the live performances on
stage. Hopefully, 2019 will be even bigger. PA
