Whichever way, it must be forward!
This edition of Plumbing Africa provides a variety of topics that may not all directly speak to the core of plumbing; yet, every plumber should be taking cognisance of the significance thereof.
The issue of legionella has now surfaced in our country, and while it may be a few isolated cases, it should serve as a warning that if plumbers do not play their part in complying with standards and using compliant products, they would be contributing to the spread of this disease.
The subject of standards has been a hot topic of discussion over the past few years. Industry has simply had enough and has let their views be known in our discussion on standards and the opening up of certification and testing. While still a way to go, the process has started and industry must take note that other marks will be around and tested to the same test requirements as before. With Trump being elected and now inaugurated as president of the US; Britain doing their Brexit thing; and our own shake-up in last year’ s local elections, people are rattling cages and so to with standards.
We feature( probably the first) the young entrepreneurs entering the market. Mentored and supported by members of the plumbing community, these youngsters have put in the hard yards and deserve recognition, as do their mentors. We should all be nurturing this spirit in our industry.
