Drainage pipes for advanced drainage systems
New kid on the block
KSB Pumps has a new series of efficient water pumps from the Etabloc close-coupled pump range. The newly enhanced series comprises 43 pump sizes, which can be driven by either 2-pole or 4-pole motors.
KSB Pumps and Valves regional sales manager David Jones explained that the discharge nozzles are fitted with more connection options for pressure gauges as standard, which allows several measurements to be conducted at the same time. The pump also features a conical seal chamber, which allows easy access and provides more space for maintenance work.
Fibertex has a range of Drainex slotted drainage pipes, which are used in conjunction with Fibertex geotextiles and composite drainage systems that encompass geonets, fin drains, and wick drains. The Drainex pipes are manufactured from high density polyethylene( HDPE), which is a chemically resistant polymer, with resistance to acids or alkali attack. These durable drainage pipes also offer high impact resistance and are UV stabilised, ensuring extended service life in arduous environments.
Darryn Meisel, who is the national sales director of geosynthetics, Fibertex SA, explained that the drainage pipes are bedded as well as side filled with filter material and properly compacted surrounding soil to form a complete pipe-soil system. The robust structure can withstand loads more than 150kN / m from soil pressure and other superimposed loads.
Drainex pipes have a double wall sandwich construction, with a corrugated external wall and a smooth inner wall, with a low coefficient of friction. This design combines high ring stiffness(> 450kPa) with excellent flow characteristics that allow optimum utilisation of pipe diameter. Drainage perforations are created in the valley of the corrugations to protect the pipe from blockage from drainage aggregate. The pipes are available in diameters of 75mm, 110mm, or 160mm, in coils and 6m lengths. Push-fit couplings and profiled sealing rings ensure reliable joining and watertight sealing of Drainex pipe fittings.

Another feature of the pump is easy-to-replace casing wear rings that protect the impeller and the casing cover from wear. The pump has been designed to consume low energy.

Tapping into electronics
Geberit has a new tap system that has electronic washbasin taps. The electronic washbasin taps are primarily found in public and semi-public lavatory facilities such as airports, shopping centres, schools, bars, and restaurants.
All the new Geberit tap system’ s function parts, including the control, mixer, valves, and the power supply, are housed in a separate 14cm × 14cm function box. This is installed in the pre-wall in an easily accessible position under the washbasin and is therefore located outside of the wet zone. If the function box cannot be installed in a pre-wall, a robust alternative for exposed installation is available.
One of the features of the Geberit system is the touchless wall-mounted tap. It leaves the entire washbasin free, which makes cleaning easier, and it offers sophisticated ergonomics when washing hands. The tap system includes newly designed drywallconstruction installation elements( Geberit Duofix and Geberit GIS) for washbasins.
