Solar , water storage and instantaneous matrix

Now that solar is flavour of the month again , expect several unqualified and non-compliant people and product to enter the market .

An individual plumber or electrician who will install a system must have undergone training to do so . Companies offering product / systems do offer training on their own product but there are specific courses that exist in the QCTO system , and some official bodies also offer training . However , to be recognised the installer / plumber particularly must hold a QCTO qualification which is national . Furthermore , solar water heaters / geysers have certain local manufacture requirements . The DTIC have stated that local manufacture of such must be 70 % i . e ., the components that must be locally sourced and / or manufactured respectively .

Such confirmation is via the SABS 1286 local verification process , and this must be stated .
