FITTING THOUGHT 1

TEAM : Together Everyone Achieves More

We welcome the journal ’ s Advisory Group and thank them for being willing to be part of Plumbing Africa , which , by and large , is well accepted by plumbers in South Africa and beyond our borders .
They have already grasped the nettle and are pointing us in excellent directions . Terry Smith continues with his second part of ‘ The Apprentice Journey ’ series .
We look at the transformation policy of IOPSA and in keeping with an all inclusive country the policy outlines a good policy for us all to adopt .
Women in Plumbing will feature regularly . In this issue we introduce the group , aka WIPSA , and encourage all those working in the plumbing environment , whatever the work being done , to join this already 300-plus membership . This is also in keeping with Government ’ s policy and credit to IOPSA for getting this moving .
We continue with IOPSA strategy 2025 , and Vollie Brink keeps us up-to-date with the engineering side of plumbing ; as does IAPMO regarding health and sanitation .
The PIRB Dashboard shows the excellent strides being made by PIRB in their registration programme as well as the demographics they have achieved by being truly inclusive .
Our project is a plumbing refurb of one of the older buildings in Sandton , where a complete energy saving refurb was done to bring it in line with the national standards . This was no small job especially when the building was built some three plus decades ago . As per the client ’ s request we have not named the owner and respect their decision . But credit to them for bringing the building up to standard .
Technically , we look at prepaid meters as these both – for water and electricity will play a critical role in the future .
Enjoy the read and we will be individually communicating with registered readers as the Advisory Group has made some great suggestions which will involve every plumber to show off his / her work and we all learn at the same time . PA
“ IOPSA is doing some amazing work in spreading its influence , and thereby the plumber and plumbing sector .”
