PA SASTT trench technology association AGM By Eamonn Ryan The Southern African Society for Trenchless Technology (SASTT) hosted its 29th annual general meeting on 18 February at the training premises of ELB Equipment in Boksburg. The financial report for 2019 and budget for 2020 were presented, followed by the President’s report for 2019. Standing President, Sam Efrat, stood down as president, his term being complete, and Abraham Avenant of Martin & East assumed the presidency for 2020. It was followed by a presentation of projects in Cape Town which benefitted from considerable cost savings due to use of trenchless technology, by Roger Williams of the City of Cape Town. SASTT has 45 corporate members and nine individual members. It was announced that it was April 2020 Volume 26 I Number 02 intended to host another ‘No Dig Conference’ in 2020. Its website had been upgraded during the year to make it more interactive and to contain more news articles. A highly successful outdoor seminar on trenchless technology was hosted on 2 – 3 September last year, and Efrat said this format of seminar would become a regular feature of the future, as its success was attributable to its outdoor demonstration capability. He thereafter gave a review of the international trenchless conference held last year in Florence, Italy. The Annual International No Dig Conference is the flagship event for the International Society for Trenchless Technology’s (ISTT) education and training efforts. The event offers high-quality peer-reviewed technical papers presented by trenchless experts from all over the world. PA www.plumbingafrica.co.za
